Atzompa Smoke Fired Petite Earthenware Bowl
These Smoke Fired Earthenware Bowls are the result of a deep connection to the land that is synonymous with potters from Atzompa, a pueblo located in the south of Mexico. With over 3,000 years of pottery tradition behind them, the commitment to their ancestral traditions is quite remarkable.
To preserve their traditions, the clay is still carried to town by donkey, the potters still operate their wheels by foot, and the earthenware is still fired in primitive backyard pits, ovens and kilns.
The smoke firing technique used to finish these earthenware bowls results in the most spectacular variety of colors and finishes. Each piece is a completely individual piece of art.
It's true that good things come in small sizes. The petite size of these bowls is comparable to a mise en place sized dish. They vary in size from 2.5" - 3" in diameter and from 1" - 1.5" in height. We think you'll find these little beauties to be the perfect size for holding tealights, votives, rings + jewelry, or they can be used in the kitchen for salts, herbs, spices and other dry ingredients.
We love using these petite earthenware bowls for incense. Pair with our Minimalist Brass Dome Incense Holder (sold separately) for Incense Sticks or burn your favorite incense cones directly in the bowl.
